Growing up Canadian, I was influenced by the outdoors and multiculturalism. I enjoyed camping and studying French. Because of this, I became interested in skills development and language learning.
Becoming competent at any skill takes time and effort. Whether you want to be a great camper or second language speaker, it is important to be an active, adventurous learner. Enjoy the small successes—and failures—in your learning journey.

研究分野：Second Language Development, specifically how tools (computers, smartphones) and peers (classmates, friends) help students develop active communication skills.
Communication skills are among the most important of life skills. They greatly influence our success in relationships and ultimately our happiness. In this seminar, we study the basic elements of effective communication and develop related skills by exploring topics such as Real listening, Self-disclosure, Body language, Clarifying, Assertiveness, Couples communication, Making contact, and Digital communication. To do this, we will experience a variety of learning activities, including short lectures, textbook readings, group discussions, conversation recordings and analyses, and short presentations.
